Certified Arborist Roswell

Arborists are trained professionals who study, manage, and provide health care for individual trees. Most arborists work with tree service providers as part of larger teams or networks of tree services experts. Our Roswell certified arborists assess the health of your trees, offer advice, and prescribe treatments to address specific issues with tree health and well-being.

Stress and Tree Health

Like all living things, trees can suffer from stresses in their environments, including abiotic stress from humans and wildlife, soil conditions, too much or too little moisture, or the local climate. A stressed tree becomes much more susceptible to infections and infestations, as well as being far less able to recover from injuries.

An arborist's prescription for an unhealthy tree might address the underlying conditions that have placed the tree under stress and lowered its defenses, the visible symptoms of an infection or other health issue, or a combination of the two. Treatment options are heavily dependent on the facts of the case. Sometimes, trimming or cleaning out the infected area will give the tree a chance to heal and grow around injuries, and improving a stressed tree's conditions will often enable its natural immune system to fight off infection.

Local Tree Health Hazards

Trees are more likely to develop infection or infestations when they are already stressed. However, there are some prominent exceptions: some diseases and insects are able to attack healthy trees as well as stressed ones. These include emerald ash borers, pine beetles, ambrosia beetles, gypsy moths, Asian longhorn beetles, and hypoxylon cankers. These predators have few environmental restraints and are able to reproduce and multiply until they can spread to healthy trees; and many parts of the country have experienced waves of these infestations.

Roswell and the northern metro Atlanta have been fortunate to avoid many of these tree issues, but Roswell certified arborists constantly monitor nearby outbreaks of tree predators. Our arborists are careful to stay informed and ready for developments in the area, and in the last few years we have successfully treated predators such as the ambrosia beetle and the Southern pine beetle.

Presently all of Fulton and DeKalb Counties are under quarantine by the GA Forestry Commission due to the presence of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB.)  This has not been very inconvenient here due to the sparsity of ash trees; however, it has been devastating in the northern mid-west part of the United States.  The primary restriction facing local homeowners prohibits movement of firewood out of its county of origin.  For more information see www.gfc.state.ga.us/forest-management/forest.../eab/.

What Makes a Certified Arborist in Roswell?

A Roswell certified arborist is required to have at least three years of experience and pass a comprehensive exam that is administered by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). This exam is intended to demonstrate that an arborist has completed education in up-to-date information and procedures and attained certain standards of knowledge in the science of tree care. After certification, arborists in Roswell and elsewhere are also required to update their education at regular intervals to refresh their qualifications.  At 404-CUT-TREE we have four certified arborists, each of whom is highly trained in the science and art of managing and caring for your trees.

What to Expect

When you call an arborist to examine your tree, our Roswell certified arborists will arrive with state-of-the-art tools and knowledge to put together a comprehensive picture of the tree's health and growth conditions. The first assessment may involve everything from visual inspection to taking samples of leaves and soil and possibly laboratory analysis of these samples. Arborists have access to a vast array of treatments for every kind of tree health problem, including insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers, trims, and soil decompaction tools. Some of these treatments work to improve tree health by improving its living environment, and others get rid of parasites and give the tree time and space to recover and thrive.

We are proud to provide affordable and reliable certified arborist services in Roswell. Whether you have concerns about the health of one or more of your trees, would like to schedule a regular check-up to ensure that your trees are thriving, or want to identify any potential problems early, call us at 404-CUT-TREE (404-288-8733) and schedule an evaluation today.
