I’d like to share a review we recently received which addresses some largely unspoken concerns about our crews.  I hope this helps.  If you have more questions after you’ve read this, I’ll publish my email address at the end of the Blog.

It was a good experience. It was my first time using them. I liked that someone came out who knew something about trees and decided which needed to be cut down, etc. My dislike is that they hire illegal immigrants at the expense of American citizens. I don’t like supporting that. If I could find a tree company that would hire only American citizens who need jobs, I would use them.

Here’s my response:

Sorry but we’re an eVerify Company and have I-9′s on all our employees. All our workers are employees who all pay federal, state and social security taxes. Very few of our workers are citizens, but their children are! If you can refer an American citizen who is qualified and able to do this kind of work I’ll hire him. (We’ve had an opening for a tree climber which pays $17 – $25 per hour plus great family health and 401k benefits and paid holidays and paid vacations for several years. The few native born Americans who apply tend to have difficulty with some of our requirements like showing up for work on Monday mornings, no convicted felons, etc.)

Sorry to be glib about a serious issue.  We have an enormous labor issue in our country which is being debated in the media by people who sometimes seem to be disconnected from reality.  But this is where I live.  I’m very familiar with the issues and with both the labor and immigration laws.  I welcome your questions and your ideas.
